Feeding Children During the Summer Months

Did you know that more than 400,000 Arizona children face hunger and food insecurity on a daily basis? While a child’s nutritional needs are often met during the school year, that isn’t always the case during the summer months. This is why Mountain Park continues to partner with the Summer Food Service Program to make sure the children in our communities have access to nutritious meals.  We are excited to be hosting this program at six of our clinics this summer.

As a community health center, we focus on whole patient health. It’s important to us that the children we see do not spend their summer days skipping meals.  By providing lunch at our six clinics, and breakfast at two clinics, stress levels for our families decrease and parents can focus on making summer memories with their children.

Now through July 28, children under the age of 18 and pregnant women can get a meal at any one of our participating clinics. You don’t have to be a Mountain Park patient to be eligible for a free meal.

Breakfast is served five days a week at our Baseline WIC Clinic from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., and at our Maryvale Clinic from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Lunch is also served five days a week. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. children can get a free meal at our Baseline, Baseline WIC, Maryvale, Gateway, Tempe and Goodyear clinics.
