Growing up in Brazil I saw a lot of poverty and how much people struggled having so little. It was a huge motivator in why I decided to go into medicine. During my time in school, I went through many specialty rotations. No matter how hard I tried to like something else, obstetric care really pulled me in. I knew how hectic the lifestyle is of an obstetrician, but I dived right in. I went a step ahead becoming a subspecialist. I really enjoy having two patients to take care of, the mom and her unborn baby, and giving both the best possible outcomes.
I have known about Mountain Park for many years. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Swagert when he was an attending physician. I really wanted to join the team because I believe in the mission and want to help the entire community. One of my passions is education and empowering the patient with knowledge. Because most conditions that I help women with—such as diabetes and high blood pressure—are life-long conditions, I focus my energy on educating and motivating them.
I have always been busy, I don’t think relax is in my vocabulary. I am very lucky because I have a huge support system at home. My husband is my entire world and without him I wouldn’t be able to do this. We have two children together—a boy and a girl. Those moments when I’m not running around, I put all of my energy into my family.
