I chose to go into healthcare because I saw a gap in the number of people dealing with mental health issues and the number of people getting the help they need. Not enough people reach out, so I wanted to be able to take services to them. That’s why I wanted to come work for Mountain Park. The integrated healthcare model here is like nothing I’ve seen before.
I really do believe in patient-centered care. What that means to me is actively listening to what my patients need, what their concerns are, and then breaking down their goals into something manageable.
I try to practice mindfulness every day. I do a lot of walking, in the morning and during lunch, and I really take that time to relax. If I wasn’t working in healthcare I’d be traveling and teaching yoga.
