Twenty-four years ago, I came to Arizona, the place I had visited as a foreign exchange student 10 years earlier. The City of Tempe and my home city of, Skopje, Macedonia, have been sister cities since 1971. The memories I carried from my first visit made me choose Arizona as my new home.
In my previous years, I worked as an interpreter for Yugoslavian languages, working mostly with refugees from the region. However, for years I dreamed of working in nutrition because it fascinated me. Finally, in the summer of 2017, my long-time dream came true and I became a registered dietitian. Although I hold other degrees and worked in various fields, nutrition is my passion.
During my dietetic internship, I learned about Mountain Park. I love how culturally diverse the staff and patients are. Mountain Park feels like home and I was naturally drawn to come work here.
When I’m not working, I spend time with my family and friends. I’m married to Pepi and we have two adult children, Ivan and Boyana, in addition to a beautiful daughter-in-law, Merry. I try my best to take care of my physical and spiritual wellbeing, otherwise, I won’t be as effective in helping others. Pepi and I find different ways to help people in need, passing along the legacy started by our American host family who tremendously helped us settle in this beautiful country. We work closely with refugees from former Yugoslavia and with the homeless population in Chandler. Every day I’m grateful for what I have been given and the life I am able to experience.
