I went to school to be a counselor but, halfway through my program, realized that it wasn’t my niche. When I decided to transition into nursing, it just felt natural. What’s great about both careers is that there is a natural crossover, so getting my Master’s in Counseling really has helped me in my career as a nurse practitioner. I love and take great pride in being able to make my patients feel at ease, especially during exams or in other sensitive health-related situations in which they would usually feel anxious or uncomfortable.  My counseling background allows me to communicate more effectively and therefore helps my patients feel more comfortable with me.

Working at Mountain Park is so much different than private practice, and I love it. The integration and how everyone works together are what make us that much more special. I love working with our Behavioral Health Consultants because they are a great support system for our patients.

I was born in Jackson, Mississippi and later moved to Nashville, where I lived for 12 years.  A little over 5 years ago, I decided it was time for a change, and I took an OBGYN nurse practitioner job in Arizona.  I have loved it here and have no plans to leave!

Family are everything to me. I’m very close with my parents, who still live in Mississippi.  I am also very close with my brother, Jess, and his wife, who live in Nashville.  I visit them frequently, and they love visiting me in Arizona! I have a cat, Felon, who has been with me for 10 years, and I love her dearly.

On the weekends, I love to travel or check out new fun things to do around Phoenix. My favorite place in the world is Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. It’s my happy place. I think I’ve been there 10 times over the years. Locally, I absolutely love Sedona. I also love staying fit with Pure Barre. It’s a great, low-impact workout that gives you better results in a shorter amount of time than going to the gym.
