Maria Gonzalez
I am an Arizona native and have lived in the City of Tempe for approximately 15 years. I started my career as an educator in the public school system with degrees in elementary and special education from Arizona State University.
After receiving my master’s in social work from Arizona State, I began working as a Crisis Intervention Specialist for CARE 7. The move into social work was the beginning of my career as a Victim Advocate and Victim Services Coordinator. I then moved into my current role of Sr. Social Services Coordinator for CARE 7 where I support the Youth Specialist program.
My professional experience has led me to better understanding systems and that partnerships and collaboration are vital in ensuring we meet the needs of our communities.
I am a first-generation graduate in my family. My parents immigrated from Mexico and Honduras and proudly raised eight children in Arizona, of which I am the oldest. I currently live in the City of Tempe with my fiancé and two pups. We love to travel, do outdoor fun, and spend time with our loved ones.
