It’s a Team Effort

February 15, 2019 |

Nurse Practitioner Dale Manzoeillo has been caring for pediatric patients at our Atkinson Clinic for three years. It’s thanks to her dedication and her team that patients continue coming back to Mountain Park.

“We’re here for the community,” she said.

Dale has been a nurse since 1974 and it was her children’s pediatrician who encouraged her to go on and become a nurse practitioner. Dale has four adult children whom she says are her proudest accomplishment.

The decision to go back to school came with a lot of student loans. To help pay those off, Dale went to work for the National Health Service Corps in her hometown of Chicago.

The NHSC is a government organization that offers student loan payments for providers who work with underserved populations. “I fell in love with community healthcare,” said Dale.

After traveling back and forth between Arizona and the Windy City, Dale settled down in Phoenix to take care of her parents and eventually found her home here at Mountain Park.

Dale says she’s proud to be working with the community, but more than anything she’s proud of her team. “I love hearing how happy our patients are, that we’re giving a good service and working as a team.”

“The best compliment I have ever received,” Dale mentioned, “is when I overheard a patient ask his mom ‘when is my grandma doctor coming in?’ I thought, boy I am old, but how much better can it get than being called grandma by a patient?”

“Dale is not only a provider, but a person who genuinely cares for the patients, families and community we serve as a whole,” said Ops Team Lead, Stephanie Santiago. “I have personally witnessed her build honest relationships with her patients and their families in order to help elevate their overall health. She is a constant patient advocate and stands by educating those around her, which has led to a remarkable level of comfort and trust with her patients and team.”

There are some challenges that come with being in a satellite clinic though. “I’m the only provider here,” Dale said. “That means I’m always the walk-in provider, I’m always the rapid response provider, whatever walks in the door!”

But even as the only provider at Atkinson, Dale says she always feels supported by her team and the rest of the Mountain Park family.

When she’s not working, Dale enjoys spending time with her family. Being from Chicago, she and her family are big Chicago Bears fans, and they get together every Football Sunday to watch them play. Dale also loves to travel and even participates in the occasional mini triathlon.
